What Pulled Him in?
The main reason why Elliot was striven to become a film-maker is that from a very young age he had numerous emotional and enthralling story-lines going around in his head which involved characters from many walks of life. He found solace in his writing, however as much as he enjoyed it, he still wanted to tell these stories using a visual medium. Already thinking and feeling like a film-maker and after three years of university studying film, he finally had his first taste of Directing a professional short film and knew instantly this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
During university he took several other different roles that he enjoyed including Script Supervisor, Gaffer and Production Assistant which with further training he could easily manufacture into avenues for job roles
INSPIRATIONS
The main attribute of film which first hooked Elliot's eye was of course the story. Having come from a writing background, he reveled in the presence of a film with a good story. His chosen genre usually being dark thrillers such as Se7en, American Psycho, Zodiac and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. These films usually followed very human characters embroiled in some very inhuman circumstances.
Even though mystery thrillers were his forte, Elliot wasn't afraid of stepping out and facing full on emotion to experience, through film, some of the best Romance, Animation or Comedy films. Some favourites of which were The Shape of Water, Love Actually, Inside Out, Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse and Hot Fuzz.
ASPIRATIONS
Where Elliot Wants To Go?
Post university, Elliot wishes to develop on the skills he's gained throughout the course.
Having become more adept at lighting a scene, he believes he could be of value to many productions and become more affluent with different equipment and techniques.
With a diverse writing background, Elliot also wants to develop his skills as a Script Supervisor since not only does he have experience in the Continuity Department but he also wants to stick closely with Directors, learn from them as he works.
Lastly, the main objective with Elliot finishing a University degree on Film Production was to become a Director so that he could breathe life into the stories he believes he can tell with fantastic visuals and epic understanding of human emotion
